Even when leaves are in the gutter, water will flow down the spout without blocking the underground pipes or elbows because no large debris can get through.
Great to use when doing a new roof project or a re-roof project to protect the downspouts from getting clogged inside the spouts with shingle cut-offs and shingle debris and other jobsite debris such as nails and underlayment. Ensures the rain water will always pass through the downspouts after the roof job is completed.

Eliminate clogged downspouts and underground piping by installing this filter type of gutter strainer. THdese filter strainers are pre-made to fit 5 inch and 6 inch K style gutters universally by just a quarter turn of the Smart Gutter Strainer. The tightly bound ny;lon fibers only allow tiny particals and water through the strainer, preventing large leaves and twigs from getting through which would cause underground blockages in you piping and downspout elbows.
If the filter ever needs cleaning simply shake it clean and put it back in place with the smooth side facing up as the diagram shows. Add 2 or 3 filters together sideways for greater coverage for each downspout butting one to the other centering them over the outlet.
